I am a 48-year-old athlete. I ride horses, run stairs, lift weights, and enjoy participating in stair climbing and running events all over the country. But, that wasn’t always my story. That is why it is an honor that I write this letter for my fitness trainer, life coach, but most importantly, my dear friend Michael Norwood.
I began training with Michael after a friend kindly suggested we meet. At that point, several physicians had informed me that, “I just had to except the fact that I would never run again”. I was in pain, over weight, exhausted and completely dejected. To be clear I had given up.
During that first meeting I was touched by his ability to really listen to me. He was kind and showed such empathy for my situation. I found it was difficult to hang on to the broken person I was in front of him because I could tell he just didn’t buy it. I felt hope and jumped right in trusting him completely.
After a few weeks of training with Michael I realized that that my life would never be the same. His ability to really listen to my concerns while customizing a program with activities appropriate for me really set him apart from other fitness specialists. I learned about the importance of motion and balance.
I discovered parts of my body I didn’t know existed. Yes, I quickly noticed results in my fitness level and the appearance of my body but more importantly I noticed my way of thinking was changing. We talked extensively about healthy food options and what to avoid eating. I felt happy and empowered and eager to get to know this person Michael was uncovering.
I trained with Michael for several years before he moved to California. During that time, I lost over 60 pounds, ran my first half marathon, competed in several local events and even ran the stairs of the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas placing 25th out of 500 women.
Michael Norwood didn’t just transform me into the athlete of my life but he also changed my way of thinking. I’ll never be that broken and pathetic person again.
He remains the voice of reason and strength in my life. When life gets tough I hear him say, “there is no CAN’T now let’s get moving”. I will never be able to express my gratitude to this remarkable human being. I can however tell you that if you really want results, if you really want total mind wellness, if you really want to feel healthy and in control, a visit with Michael Norwood is a must.
